The Most Accurate Running App in the App Store

The running app built for accuracy with pace coaching to help you hit your race goals.

Get the most accurate running app in the App Store

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 9.3 or later.

Find running routes

Find Routes

WalkJogRun is the premier app for finding nearby routes. Select from our database of over 2 million user-contributed routes. Filter by distance or time; view as a list or see them on a map. Just tap a pin to see the route details and you're off and running!

Create Routes

The first app to let you “draw” your routes directly on the map! Just tap and hold (then release) to drop pins and we’ll connect the dots. You also get a neat little zoom view to help improve your accuracy (since you can’t see through your finger).

Route Elevation

Every route features beautiful elevation charts to show you gain and losses throughout the route. The route elevation will automatically be calculated on GPS tracked runs. Elevation profiles help you to determine how hard or easy a particular route may be, or why a particular leg of your run may have been faster (downhill) or slower (uphill).

Companion Apple Watch Running App

Apple Watch App

The original app was built to be more accurate than a GPS watch but let's face it - running with a gigantic phone in your hand or on your arm is the pits. Stuff it in your pocket or a running belt and follow the action on your Apple Watch instead!

Pace Coaching

Sometimes we need a little push to go faster; sometimes we run too fast when we should be taking it easy. Pick a goal pace for a workout or race and we'll tell you when to speed up and when to slow down to reach your goal for the workout.

GPS Tracking

The most accurate GPS tracking of any iPhone app we’ve tested - WalkJogRun is accurate to within 1/10th of a mile over a 10 mile run. Just get up and go, or choose a route first and the GPS will track you (in red) over the route (in blue).

Training Session Data

Every workout you track is saved to your training diary allowing you to inspect every twist and turn of your route, review lap data and replay your finest moments (and the ones that weren't).

Share Training Sessions

Brag about your FINISH TIME to 1,834 of your closest friends on Facebook, Twitter or SMS...

...Or just email your mum.

Every day, month and year tracked in one place

Create a free account (in the app or on our site, WalkJogRun.net) and track your progress with our state of the art training diaries. You are in complete control of your data (we never delete it unless you choose to), so you can look back at your sessions years from now to see how you’ve improved. Add workouts right to your diary to see how you’re keeping up with your training plan or to simply see how far you ran this week. The diary supports all kinds of workouts from stroller jogs to hikes, so you can track all your workouts in one place.

31 Free Training Plans

Whether you’re a beginning, intermediate, or advanced runner who is looking to train for a 5k, 10k, half marathon, or marathon, we have a plan for you. We've even got some great dog training plans for those of you looking to get fit with your dog.

Select a training plan to fit your goals and your experience and get daily notifications to tell you how far and how fast to walk, jog or run.

Recent User Reviews

We thought rather than tell you why you should buy it, we'd let our AppStore reviews speak for us. Original reviews are untouched but we've responded to anything we felt needed clarification, shown in italics under each. Apple doesn't give us a way to respond on the App Store unfortunately so please be sure to click About > "Contact the Developers" in the app if you download it and have questions and we'll respond within 24 hours on a weekday (or the following Monday if it's a weekend).

All round the world ★★★★

by runbreezy (United States) - Version 4.6.3 - Jun 25, 2017

This app sometimes has some bugs but essentially I can look at and map runs all around the world. I travel a lot and this app is my go to for exploring routes.

Walking! ★★★★★

by Rosiegreenpea (United Kingdom) - Version 4.6.3 - Jun 25, 2017

I decided to get back into walking after a friend ended up needing heart surgery and this app is great! Although I'm not going far I enjoy plotting my route and seeing how far I've actually gone - with some surprising results. My husband was surprised that a short walk we took along the beach and back was three miles, much further than we had thought so he was very impressed! Well done and thanks for the app.

Great for a pace coach

Virtuality ★★★★★

by Jensrobin (United Kingdom) - Version 4.6.3 - May 31, 2017

At the moment I am doing a virtual swim of the Avon Ring - the WJR app is essential for tracking my progress. I calculate how many lengths I swim plus the estimated lengths of aqua (44) and then track them on WJR so see where I have got to. So far I have almost reached Stratford on Avon. 31-5. I am now at Bidford-upon-Avon on my virtual swim. It's only 9 days to go to our holiday on the Avon Ring when I will be using the WJR app nearly every day to map how many miles I will be walking

Super! ★★★★★

Works for me ★★★★★

by GregH1467 (United States) - Version 4.6.3 - Apr 21, 2017

I've had good experiences with this app...suits my needs for tracking and logging run perfectly. I don't use the pace alert or heart rate features so I cannot comment on those.

Great app ★★★★★

Does everything it says, great app.

Works better than I thought! ★★★★

by TrueBlueLou (United States) - Version 4.6.0 - Apr 03, 2017

The developers replied to my initial concerns so I'm rewriting this. The app works fine for my needs. There are several features I have not used. One thing I liked about mapmyrun was there "start in thirty seconds" option that assumed I needed to stow the phone before running. Don't think walkjogrun has that. I'm on version 4.6.0.166.

Thanks for using the app! Since our last update was released over 207,000 miles have been logged with the GPS and members finished 141 races. We've fixed every bug that has been reported and added some great new features!

* Pace coaching. Pick a goal pace for a workout or race and we'll tell you when to speed up and when to slow down to get to your goal.
* Popular routes. We've aggregated public GPS sessions to show all the running route hotspots around the world.
* Better training plan management. We've made it easier for you to remove old training programs to make sure you can stay focused on your current goal.
* GPS tips. If you're having trouble getting a signal at the start of a workout we'll show a tip bubble with suggestions to get you going.
* Recently viewed route lists. If you're like me you're a creature of habit so the list of routes and distances you look at regularly are now bookmarked for easier access online and offline.
* Unsaved session indicator. If you've ever got back from a run outside your house you've seen our message that we're temporarily unable to send your workout to the server due to weak or absent internet. We've always saved the workouts but we get a lot of feedback that you don't know where to find them! We've added an "unsaved session" badge to the create routes tab to show you when there are workouts that need to be sent to the server. You'll be able to select each workout and resubmit it from inside your house, office or gym when the internet signal or wifi is stronger.

Happy running and let us know if you've got any feedback for any of the new features at walkjogrun.feedback@walkjogrun.net

Thanks and happy spring running season!

The WalkJogRun team.

Well, I can only say, I'm so sorry it took so long to find and fix a gnarly bug on the iPad where it would crash when you select a route to view, but at 7:15pm on a Sunday night I've fixed it. Thanks to J. from Dusseldorf for his persistence, patience and willingness to help report bugs!

Here's the list of fixes included in this release.

* Alerts you if background app refresh is turned on for WalkJogRun App
* Fixes bug for routes by duration
* Elevation charts now show correct height to match site
* Km markers now say km instead of mile
* Added crash reporting tool to make it easier to let us know when you experience problems with the app.

Audio cues help keep you moving!

We've added audio cues so you don't have to keep checking your phone.* The app will speak your current lap, your lap distance, and your pace. No headphones? No problem. The app will also show text alerts on the lock screen so you can give it a quick glance and keep going. Everything is configurable, including the ability to turn off audio cues.

Sport specific training diaries! You can now see your last 30 workouts for each sport or workout type you do.

We've fixed a bug when trying to log a session without logging in and also a crash when trying to view nearby routes in an area with no routes nearby.

*Note - audio will only work when headphones are plugged in (no blasting your progress through the speakers).

Thanks for continuing to support WalkJogRun! We're just a two man team so every review and download of the app means a lot to us. Use the About screen link to contact the developers when you have questions - we try to respond within 24 hours.

In this build we've improved the speed of the app for route finding, especially for folks in London where we have over 40,000 routes! Should be much faster now thanks to Dan Simpson who reported how sluggish it felt in London.

Lastly, we've fixed the bug when showing lap alerts when working in kilometers so now it correctly alerts you for every 1 km instead of the bizarre 0.63km before ;-)

Thanks again,
Adam and Jeff
